Meeting Format

  1. Care for one another’s high’s and low’s from last week. Needs? - Listen, encourage, admonish. Share personal testimonies, harvest stories, news.

  2. * Lovingly check on one another’s goals from last week.

  3. * Cast hopeful vision by praying: for Oikos, guidance and love of the Holy Spirit, and faithfulness this week!

  4. Discover the story by reading and then retelling it.

  5. Make observations about God and People. Interpret the relationship between them.

  6. * Apply the Word by setting a tangible action step in response to the text - a goal to ‘Grow and Gather’.

Have a current goal to ‘Go and Gospel’ (share the gospel and/or a discovery bible study).

Have a current goal to ‘Abide’ (express your love for God).

  7. * Worship through practicing a tool to help fulfill your plan/goals. Or, praise God together with song in response to the topic of study.

    * Never Skip These

Study Model

Totally dependent on the leading of the Holy Spirit to open hearts and minds to the Word of God.

  1. Observation

Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?

    What does it say?

  2. Interpretation

    Bible is consistent

    Understand context

    Christian history helps

    What does it mean?

  3. Application

    God’s commandments

    God’s promises

How does it work? What am I to do?

  1. God – What do we learn about God? Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Man – What do we learn about humans? What are people doing in the text? Tension between Spirit and flesh.

  2. Relationships – What do we learn about the relationship between God and humans? Command to obey? Example to follow/not-follow? Promise to believe?

  3. Have an ‘Abide’ goal – this week I will…Do something to express my love for God.

Set ‘Grow and Gather’ goal – This week I will…set an achievable goal according to my personal conviction from the text. Preferably craft the goal with categorized from 2 Peter 1:5-7, and supplement with the next quality.

Have a ‘Go and Gospel’ goal – This week I will…go to my Oikos. Share, invite to study together, or attempt spiritual conversation.
