What We Believe

ABOUT The Bible

We believe in the Bible as the Word of God, verbally inspired as originally written; the supreme infallible authority in all matters of faith and conduct. 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:21

ABOUT God

We believe in the one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Deut. 6:4; Matt. 3:16-17; 28:19

ABOUT Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, true God and true man; in His sinless perfection; in His substitutionary death, burial, and His bodily resurrection; and in His ascension into Heaven where He is now our High Priest and Advocate. Matt. 1:18-20; Luke 1:31-34; Rom. 9:5; Gal. 4:4; Heb. 4:15; John 20:24-28; Acts 1:9-10; Heb. 4:14-16; 1 John 2:1

ABOUT THE Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father and God the Son; that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; that He is the agent in the New Birth; and that He indwells, seals, sanctifies, teaches, and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ. John 14:16-17; John 16:7-11; Matt. 28:19; John 3:5; Eph. 1:13-14

ABOUT HUMANITY

We believe that all people were created in the image of God; that because Adam sinned, humanity thereby incurred as a consequence both physical death and spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all people are sinners by nature and by practice. Gen. 1:26-27; Gen. 3:1-7; Rom. 5:12, 19; Rom. 3:10-12, 23

ABOUT SALVATION

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins as a vicarious substitutionary sacrifice and that all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood. 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Rom. 3:22-25; 2 Cor. 5:21

We believe that salvation is wholly of God's grace apart from works and that all who receive by faith Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are born of the Spirit of God, and thereby become children of God. Eph. 2:8-9; John 1:12-13; John 3:3-6; Rom. 10:9-10

We believe that all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are called into a life of separation from worldly and sinful practices which will cause others to stumble or bring reproach upon the name of Christ, and that good works are the natural result of the new birth. Rom. 12:1-2; 14:13-21; 1 Cor. 8:9-13; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 Cor. 6:14; 7:1; Eph. 2:10; James 2:17-20; 1 John 2:3-6

ABOUT ETERNITY

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; the everlasting blessedness and salvation of those who believe and receive Jesus Christ as Savior, and the everlasting punishment in hell of those who reject Him. John 5:28-29; 1 Cor. 15:51-57; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Matt. 25:41, 46; Rev. 20:11-15; 2 Thess. 1:8-9

We believe in the "Blessed Hope," the personal, premillennial, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Acts 1:11; Rev. 1:7; Rev. 20:4-6; 1 Thess. 4:13-18

ABOUT The Church

We believe in the Church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and of which all regenerated persons are members.  This universal Church is the body of Christ into which all believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit.  1 Cor. 12:13

We believe its mission is to witness, concerning its Head, Jesus Christ, preaching the Gospel among all nations.  Col. 1:18; Acts 2:41,42; Acts 1:8; Titus 1:5-9

We believe that the local church is an organization of believers who have given a credible confession of faith, have been baptized by immersion, and have voluntarily associated for worship, fellowship, and service. Acts 2:41-47; Heb 10:25

We believe its officers are Elders and Deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties, are clearly defined in the Scriptures. 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9; Phil. 1:1

We believe that there are two church ordinances; namely, baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is the immersion of believers in water, showing forth the believer's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord's Supper is the remembrance of the Lord's death until He comes, and should be observed only by believers after solemn self-examination. Matt. 3:16; Acts 8:36-39; Rom. 6:3-6; 1 Cor. 11:23-29

ABOUT Satan

We believe in the reality and personality of Satan, known also as the Devil; and that he is the ‘god’ of this world, the enemy of God and humanity, and that he is destined to the judgment of the lake of fire. Matt. 4:1-11; Rev. 12:9; 2 Cor. 4:4; Eph. 2:2; Matt. 25:41; Rev. 20:10

ABOUT Marriage

We believe that the term ‘marriage’ has only one biblical meaning: a marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. Gen. 2:24; Mal. 2:13-16; Mark 10:6-9; Eph. 5:21-33; 1 Cor. 7:10-11

We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. Heb. 13:4; Matt. 19:9; 1 Cor. 7:1-5

We believe that any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography, or any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagreement with one’s biological sex, is sinful and offensive to God. Gen. 1:27; Deut. 22:5; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1:26-32; 1 Cor. 5:1-2; 6:9-10; 1 Thes. 4:1-8

In essential beliefs — we have unity.

“There is one body and one Spirit ... one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all...” Ephesians 4:4-6

In non-essential beliefs — we have liberty.

“As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions … Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another?  It is before his own master that he stands or falls ... So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.” Romans 14:1,4,12

In all our beliefs — we show love.

“If I understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2
